If you asked me how I would describe Liz + Timmy's wedding, it would be: personal, special, and overall - a BLAST. This couple meant so much to me, and I'm beyond happy that I could play a special part in their wedding day. 2020 has truly been an unprecedented time, and it has caused many to re-evaluate plans! My goal with this couple was to maintain the same vision, pivoting where need be, and ease any concerns that arise.
Earle & Wilson really was the perfect reception venue for this wedding - located in Lowertown, St. Paul near both family homes and a quick drive from their ceremony location, The Church of Assumption. The couple, living out of state, had little time to tour venues when home for the holidays in 2019 - but they fell in love with Earle & Wilson during their first visit. Over the next 8 months, the world was completely flipped upside down; however, that was not going to stop these two from getting married! We worked closely with the venue's event manager, Lizie, to modify floorpans and timelines where need be to accommodate the necessary changes due to COVID-19. I cannot say enough great things about their Earle & Wilson's management and extra assistance - they were so responsive and helped soothe any concerns!
The couple knew they would have a larger-than-average wedding party, and this venue offered two spacious and functional suites....which were utilized to the fullest! A great deal of energy and excitement was present from the very beginning of the day, and I knew this was going to be a fun event. The morning was spent getting ready and spending quality time with family and friends who traveled from all across the country to be there.
Timmy and Liz's ceremony was officiated by the couple's high school friend-turned priest. By far, this was the most personal ceremony I have heard, especially in a church setting! Faith plays a large role in the each of their lives, and I know it meant a lot to have a close friend play a huge role in their wedding ceremony.
After the ceremony, Timmy and Liz decided to take the wedding party on a little adventure! They paid visit to an aunt that couldn't be present for their wedding at her nearby St. Paul home. This was an incredibly sweet gesture that added another personal touch to their day. Terra Sura Photography took advantage of the alley for some fun wedding party portraits and other candid shots! While unplanned, these turned out to be some of my favorite photos.
Back to Earle in Wilson for cocktail hour - accompanied by many Passionfruit Mojitos - a fun nod at the the beginning of Timmy + Liz's relationship in Cancun, Mexico! Guests found their seats by picking up a custom cookie representing the couple's professions, Doctor and Nurse. After a family style dinner from Fork & Flair, it was time for speeches. The couple and the crowd listened and laughed more than I had ever heard. This was by far my favorite part of the day.
The evening ended with dessert and hours of dancing...and I can honestly say that this was the most lively reception I had ever worked or attended! The groom's family is known for swing dancing, and so there were various flips and twirls throughout the evening. Although their total guest count was about a third of what they had originally planned, the party atmosphere saw no impact. For those who weren't able to come, the couple planned a second outdoor reception the day after at the bride's family home, and it turned out to be the most spectacular wedding weekend there ever was.
